Frequently Asked Questions
IS FISH JERKY FISHY?

Yes! No! Maybe? It depends on who you are and if you eat fish regularly. We love all the fish big and small. They all have different flavors, textures, and quality. Some fish are “fishier” than others. Tuna and Marlin are known to be less fishy but really it is up to each individual.

WHERE DOES YOUR FISH COME FROM?

All of our Tuna and Marlin come from the great Pacific Ocean! They are not farmed! Most of our fish come from no farther than 50 miles from our facility (1 mile from the ocean). They are long line caught.

WHERE IS YOUR FISH JERKY MADE?

We make our jerky close here in Kona, Hawaii, USA. We follow strict USDA guidelines.

WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OUR YOUR FISH JERKY?

A year from production date.

DO I NEED TO REFRIGERATE AFTER OPENING?

No, but if you want to you can! We recommend consuming after a week from opening the bag for maximum tastiness.

DO YOU USE MSG?

No! We don’t add any MSG or flavor enhancers.

WHY USE SOY SAUCE?

We love it! It tastes good! People have been eating it 10x longer than most alternatives. We use a high grade, all natural preservative-free soy sauce.

ARE THERE NITRATES IN FISH JERKY?

No!

WHERE CAN I BUY YOUR JERKY?

You can find our jerky in almost any store in Hawaii. If you live in the mainland US we sell on Amazon or our main online store www.kaimanajerky.com.

WHO IS KAIMANA JERKY?

KAIMANA JERKY is our brand of fish jerky! We are working at “branding” our 2 lines of jerky both Tuna and Marlin under the KAIMANA JERKY label. We produce all of the jerkies at the same facility in Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii.

WHO ARE WE?

We are a family run business. We love Hawaii, USA. We respect our natural resources. We surf, paddle, fish, hunt, farm, and live sustainably! We have been making fish jerky for 25 or more years to preserve our fresh fish, provide something delicious for our friends to eat and sell to the local community. We support local business and believe that Hawaii has unique products that cannot be duplicated. Mahalo Nui Loa to all our customers and friends!

*You may have noticed that we no longer sell our Marlin Jerky online. This is due to a new fishing conservation law signed by President Trump in Aug 2018. Now, Marlin can only be caught and sold in the State of Hawaii, so next time you're in the islands look for our Marlin Jerky in store. ALOHA!
